CORONADO WALKING TOUR & WINE TASTING:

Join us for a leisurely walk through quaint Coronado, once the playground of presidents and princesses. Our tour begins with an overview of the island's history - 460 years of history to be exact.

The historical overview begins in 1542, when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, a Spanish explorer first arrived in San Diego, and concludes with the finishing touches being placed on the Hotel Del Coronado. The "Hotel Del" holds the most stories, having been the filming location for the legendary film "Some Like It Hot" with Marilyn Monroe.

But movie stars weren't the only residents of the hotel. British royalty also called it home. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor were guests, and the Duchess even has a building on the hotel grounds named after her – the "Duchess of Windsor Cottage. "

Further along, our guide will point out the house where Frank L. Baum – author of the Wizard of Oz books - spent winters. He wrote many of the books right here in Coronado! The tour finishes with a friendly wine tasting at a local wine bar on the avenue.

TOURING THE MARITIME MUSEUM & USS MIDWAY:

First you will visit the Harbor Drive promenade learning about all the different vessels docked in this area. You will also visit the Maritime Museum for a closer look at the local maritime history.

Afterwards, you will head to the USS Midway Museum. Highlights include carrier aircraft on display, a below-deck theater, interactive exhibits, touring and permanent exhibits, tours through selected portions of the ship and research/historical memorabilia centers and displays.

Another popular attraction is the flight simulator exhibits which you can enjoy for a small fee. Fly, spin, and shoot down enemies as you feel the G's just like a real pilot! Then finish with an audio tour of the aircraft carrier.

PASSPORT TO BALBOA PARK:

San Diego's picturesque Balboa Park is one of the world's great urban parks. Its 1,200 acres in central San Diego are more than 130 years old and have been the site of two world expositions. The park is home to the San Diego Zoo, Old Globe Theater, 15 museums, recreational and cultural facilities.

Upon arrival, you will receive a "passport" to Balboa Park, an admission book that allows you access to several of the park’s historic museums. You will have the option to embark on a leisurely walking tour through the park with your Field Representative, or enjoy the park entirely on your own!

How about visiting the Aerospace Museum where the history and majesty of flight comes alive! Real-life aircraft's are suspended from the ceiling and dotted all over the museum, giving you insight into the people, aircraft and the fascinating story of flight. Another popular museum is the San Diego Museum of Art which is the region's oldest and largest art museum and houses a fine selection of European old masters, 19th and 20th century American art.

An encyclopedic Asian collection, and growing collections of contemporary and Latin American art are also on display. In addition to these and other museums, you will have access to the Spanish Village Art Center. The buildings were originally created for use in the 1935-36 California Pacific International Exposition and are part of an authentic reproduction of an ancient village in Spain. Subsequently the colony was transformed into an arts and cultural center, one of the most unique organizations of its kind in the world.

Over forty studios and galleries surround the colorful patios, and specialize in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, enameling, and painting in many mediums.
