I started my career working for an auto parts distributor when I was 16 to save enough money to buy a friend's GTO.
My dad having a history with NASCAR in the 50's passed the racing gene down to me and my brother. I left home at 17 to join the United States Air Force as a Special Mission Crew chief and squad leader. My Air Force career proved fruitful as I received several letters of accommodation and an outstanding unit citation. While in the Air Force, I worked for a local auto parts store near base and continued to restore my 66 GTO that I would race on one of the deserted air strips designated for the auto shop, lots of fun, but tough on tires. After fulfilling my obligation, I left with an honorable discharge as a Vietnam era veteran and joined the Maryland Air National Guard as a weekend warrior. My first job out of the military was in the parts department of a local GM dealership. What I didn't know at that time was that this would be the beginning of a 30+ year career moving through the fixed and variable operations in several of the largest dealerships in the Baltimore-Washington metro area.
